Kowa Optimed Inc. was founded in 1980 to provide a direct presence to the North and South American markets for Kowa's Electronics and Optics products.

Kowa Optimed is a part of Kowa Company Ltd., which was founded in 1894. Kowa is one of the largest privately owned company in Japan and is ranked as the 5th largest trading company. This amazing accomplishment was achieved and continues to be managed by individuals working together for a common goal; remaining a leader in the various industries Kowa participates in. This level of commitment requires constant perseverance and leadership, especially within highly aggressive markets. In order to maintain a competitive advantage, Kowa has created highly successful divisions; Electronics & Optics Division, Pharmaceutical Division, Textile Division and the Non-Textile (General Merchandise) Division.

Kowa Optimed, Inc. handles products in three markets within the Electronics and Optics Group; Medical Products, Sporting Optics, and Opto-Electronics.

Since the inception of the Electronics and Optics Division in 1946, we have combined electronics, mechanics, and optics into significant new technologies. Research and development takes place at our Hamamatsu and Chofu Factories where product development and testing is an ongoing process. Lens manufacturing, which includes polishing and grinding of some of the most difficult types of lenses in the world, takes place at our Gamagori Factory. The Kowa factories are devoted to producing the most innovative and cost-effective line of optical products in the world.

Concentrated in the world's three largest markets, Asia , Europe and the Americas , Kowa has remained a constant leader in the Electronics and Optics industries by focusing on our customers needs.
